A group of twenty-six mixed-media drawings on handmade paper. The work is inspired by ideas that address the history of the first electric light source experiments created in the Thomas Edison laboratory in Menlo Park, New Jersey in the late 19th century.

The flickering and weak lighting was created by passing electricity current through a thin delicate platinum filament in the glass vacuum bulb. The light signal only burned for only a few hours.

The drawings are made using custom fabricated titanium and aluminum pointed tools and scraped with thin blades of the metals to create a shining patina. Later layers of graphite pencil and mineral based colored pencils are applied to make thin segments of “light-emitting signals”.

The paper is handmade in France using 100% cotton fibers.
